All of the All Starr artists complement Starr's musical style and share his message of peace and love. As Ringo said in a recent interview, "My live shows are a peace-and-love fest. That's my main promotion, really." Starr's latest album, Liverpool 8, was released on CD, digitally and on USB wristband on January 15 by Capitol/EMI. His most personal release in years, Liverpool 8's songs are a reflective journey through Ringo's storied life and career and feature some of his greatest songwriting to date. Co-produced and co-written with Dave Stewart, Liverpool 8's resounding message of peace and love will continue to resonate with All Starr audiences across the country when Ringo hits the road this summer for his first tour since 2006.

Since 1989, Ringo Starr's All Starr tours have rocked sold out venues with great musicians who share Starr's love of performing. All of the All Starrs lend their most popular songs to Ringo's already impressive hit list which includes such classics as "With a Little Help From My Friends," "Yellow Submarine," "Photograph" and "It Don't Come Easy."

The tour's 31 U.S. and Canadian dates, booked by Dave Hart at ICM, begin on June 19 at Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls, Ontario. The tour includes a show at New York's Radio City Music Hall on June 24, and will conclude on August 2 at Los Angeles' Greek Theatre.

3/11/08 - Ringo Starr Assembles 'All Starr' Summer Tour

With a new album under his belt, Ringo Starr is getting his All Starr Band together for a summer tour of North America.

The 10th incarnation of the star-studded group will include returning members Colin Hay, Billy Squier, Hamish Stuart and Edgar Winter, along with with first-timer Gary Wright and drummer Gregg Bissonette.

The trek is set to launch June 19 with a two-night stand in Niagara Falls, Ontario, and then visit US venues from coast-to-coast, including New York's Radio City Music Hall, into early August. Details are listed below.

In addition to performing songs from Starr's hit list--like "With a Little Help from My Friends," "Yellow Submarine" and "It Don't Come Easy"--the All Star Band will play popular tunes from each member's repertoire. Plus, there will no doubt be a good smattering of songs from Starr's new album, "Liverpool 8," which hit stores in mid-January.

The set, Starr's 14th solo studio effort, comprises 12 new tracks co-written and produced by the former Beatle with help from the Eurythmics' Dave Stewart. The title track and a few other cuts from "Liverpool 8" are streaming at Starr's MySpace page.

In addition to traditional pressings, the record is available as a pre-loaded USB wristband including the entire album, a personal video message, behind-the-scenes footage, ringtones, photos, and interview and track commentary from Starr.

"Liverpool 8" follows 2005's "Choose Love" and last fall's "Photograph: The Very Best of Ringo Starr," which comprises 20 tracks bundled with a bonus DVD.

THE BEATLES’ “LOVE” WINS TWO GRAMMYS AT THE 50th ANNUAL GRAMMY AWARDS

Hollywood, California – February 11, 2008 – The Beatles’ LOVE won two Grammys® at the 50th Annual Grammy® Awards in the categories of Best Compilation Soundtrack Album for Motion Picture, Television or other Visual Medium and Best Surround Sound Album. Ringo Starr joined LOVE’s producers, Sir George Martin, The Beatles’ legendary producer, and his son, music producer Giles Martin, to accept the award for Best Compilation Soundtrack during the live February 10 Grammy telecast from Los Angeles.

“The idea for LOVE started with George Harrison talking to Cirque du Soleil,” said George Martin. “We all pay tribute to George, Ringo, Paul and John as the people who are behind this award.”

”The Beatles changed the musical landscape forever, combining great music with eternal human truths, which are as vibrant today as when they were recorded,” said Guy Hands, Chairman of EMI Group. “It is therefore fitting that Sir George Martin and Giles Martin have won these awards in such a milestone year for The Grammys. It’s poetic that the talents of the Beatles, and the work that father and son have done with LOVE continue to ensure this music speaks directly to all generations.”

George Martin and Giles Martin worked with the entire archive of Beatles master recordings at Abbey Road Studios to create the soundscape for LOVE. The result is an unprecedented approach to Beatles music for a stage production. Released by Apple Corps Ltd. and distributed by Capitol Records, The Beatles’ LOVE is available in both stereo and 5.1, and is the first Beatles album available in 5.1 surround sound.

LOVE’s two Grammy Award wins raise The Beatles’ Grammy count to nine. The Beatles’ seven prior wins include Best New Artist of 1964 and Album of The Year and Best Contemporary Album for Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band in 1967, which also honored the album’s producer, George Martin. Including LOVE’s awards, Martin has been awarded six Grammys for producing and arranging, including The Who’s Tommy for Best Musical Show Album in 1993 (producer) and the award for Best Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s) for Paul McCartney & Wings’ Live And Let Die in 1973.

Cast members from The Beatles LOVE by Cirque du Soleil at The Mirage in Las Vegas paid tribute to the Beatles at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards with a special performance. 25 dancers and acrobats performed live to “A Day in the Life” and in the Grammy finale with “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise),” both from the LOVE album.

1/11/08 - Ringo Starr: Rolling Stone Q&A + Album & Single Reviews

Rolling Stone's January 24 issue features a full-page Q&A with Ringo Starr and reviews of Liverpool 8 and the album's title track.

ALBUM REVIEW EXCERPTS:
"Liverpool 8 is a celebration of everything Ringo - his musical wit, his cheer, his commitment to the Sixties ideals of peace and love."

"The music, co-produced by Dave Stewart, plays up his jolly charm. Yet the 12 songs (all co-written by Ringo) show the reflexive side of the Beatle who paradoxically grew up to be one of rock & roll's sanest adults, not to mention one of the most beloved."

SINGLE REVIEW:
"Ringo recalls his days 'with George and Paul and my friend John' on this sweet look back at his life, hometown and career."
